The Lady Black Tigers are running fast in the early part of the season.

Unfortunately, Cuyahoga Falls head girls track and field coach Dan Scourfield said it best about his team's performance thus far.

"We're just not running fast enough," he said.

As a result, the host Lady Black Tigers dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the Suburban League National Conference after suffering a 101-36 defeat to Hudson April 10 at the Laybourne Sports Complex.

"You look at the score and it's pretty decisive," Scourfield said. "I still thought we ran really well. We had 30 to 35 personal records. We're heading in the right direction."

Rachel LaFlame won the shot-put competition with a throw of 31 feet, 11 inches and took second (94-6) in the discus.

Falls swept the shot put as Katie Rozsa placed second (29-2) and Holly Williams captured third (29-1.75).

The Lady Black Tigers' other two victories came from De'Vine Shelton (50.4 seconds) in the 300 hurdles and Kayla Huffman (12:35) in the 3,200. Shelton added a second (27.4) in the 200.

Also taking second for Falls was Sarah Wyatt (personal-best 16.9) in the 100 hurdles and Jackie Shields (15-10) in the long jump.

Shields added a third in the pole vault (no height available) and the 400 (1:03.5).

The Lady Black Tigers finished third in three other events. They are Kristica Barnett (4-10) in the high jump, Valerie Deighton (6:13) in the 1,600 and Emily Zimmerman (13:04) in the 3,200.

"The girls definitely saw improvement in their performances," Scourfield said. "I don't know if it was because it was a nice day to run. Hopefully, the work they put in will pay off. I'll take it and move forward."

Falls is scheduled to entertain National Conference rival Nordonia April 18 at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Black Tigers are set to pay a visit to Bulldog Stadium to face National Conference archrival Stow-Munroe Falls April 20 at 4 p.m.
