Woodridge junior 126-pounder David Massey and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy junior 113-pounder Matt Cardello each finished as All-Ohioans at the Division II state tournament.

However, the pair had two very different mornings March 11 during the placement rounds at Value City Arena in Columbus.

Cardello opened the consolation semifinals by beating Steubenville's Tim Young 11-5. He then took third place with a 4-2 win over Western Brown's Brandon Lucas, as he scored the winning takedown in the sudden victory period.

Cardello took third place after finishing seventh as a sophomore and eighth as a freshman at states.

Meanwhile, Massey had to settle for sixth place as his first All-Ohio spot.

Massey lost a 6-1 decision to St. Paris Graham's Jeffrey Thomas in the consolation semifinals. He then lost a tight 3-1 decision in the fifth-place match to Licking Valley's Addison Fogle.

CVCA 106-pounder Jacob Dectuar and 126-pounder Jordan Decatur will wrestle for Division II state titles tonight at Value City Arean, as will Walsh Jesuit 126-pounder Matt Fields at the Division I level.
