The 2016-2017 season marks the 30th anniversary of the Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus, under the auspices of the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department.

The group's director, Ted Shure, is entering his 14th season in the post and says the group has never been stronger.

"We have an unbelievable group of singers who are 110 percent committed to being the very best they can be," said Shure. "For some it's the very first time they've sung in an ensemble so it is very rewarding for them and for the chorus to see the progress made over the course of the season."

Two of the group's spring performances are slated to celebrate this big milestone while also honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and first responders. One will take place on May 13 at 7 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls and the other will take place on May 15 at the Cuyahoga Falls Library.

"The remarkable men and women who protect our country and our city should be celebrated and prayed for daily," noted Shure. "It is a privilege for us to honor them during our spring concerts. I would like to invite all veterans and their families as well as all first responders and their families to attend one of our performances so that we are able to say 'Thank you for your service' publicly."

The Chorus will also perform at Oakwood Cemetery for the Memorial Day commemoration ceremony, at the Relay for Life Survivor's Dinner, and they will perform the National Anthem at the Akron Rubber Ducks game on June 2.

The Chorus rehearses Mondays at 7 p.m. at Summit Christian School, 2800 13th St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Rehearsals for next season resume on the first Monday after Labor Day.
