Akron, Ohio – Beginning on Thursday, July 21st, local tennisenthusiasts will compete in the 12th annual Akron Open Championships atHyre Park. Presented by Towpath Tennis Center, and with support fromTitle Sponsor, Cascade Auto Group, the Akron Open has become the largestoutdoor adult United States Tennis Association (USTA) –sanctionedevent in Northeast Ohio.Over the course of four days, hundreds of spectators will gather towatch approximately 200 competitors compete in Men’s and Women’sSingles and Doubles in 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and Open divisions, as well as 7.0and Open Mixed at the eight-court facility in Ellet. New to thisyear’s schedule is a 2.5 Women’s Doubles division and a backdraw for7.0 Mixed.Play is on July 21-24th, and will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday atHyre Park and Towpath Tennis Center, and will continue all day Saturdayand Sunday at Hyre Park. In the event of bad weather, all matches willbe moved indoors to Towpath Tennis Center. Spectators are welcome toattend at no cost.
