Northampton United Methodist

Northampton UMC is offering a two-hour GriefShare Surviving the Holidays workshop for people who have experienced the loss of a friend or loved one, with tips for journeying through this time of year. There is a video and small group discussion along with at-home exercises. Choose from two dates: Nov. 17 (6 to 8 p.m.), or Dec. 16 (6 to 8 p.m.). The Advent Remembrance Service is a time to join together during the holidays to remember loved ones who have died, either recently or many years ago. Join the congregation to celebrate their lives in the sanctuary by hanging special ornaments in their honor on the church's Christmas tree. Refreshments and a time of community will follow the service. Call the church to RSVP with the name of your loved one so that an ornament can be prepared before the service. To submit a photo for the slide presentation during the service, send a jpeg or a scanned image (no original photos are allowed) to office@numchurch.org by Nov. 30.

Pilgrim United Church of Christ

Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd.,, invites community members to join the congregation each Sunday for Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. All are welcome to join the congregation for worship.

Sundays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., Adult Coffee & Conversation meet in the Adult Library. Childre in preschool through fifth grade will meet for L.I.G.H.T. Learning In God's House Together in the Children's Library and continue to explore "The Creation Story." Youth in grades six through 12 will meet in the A.T.T.I.C. room Attitude Turning Truthful In Christ - will continue to explore "Attitude Is Your Paintbrush: It Colors Every Situation."

Pilgrim's Bible Studies include: Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Adult Library. A Wednesday evening Bible Study takes place at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Room.

On Nov. 13, Pilgrim will celebrate the end of the Stewardship Campaign by bringing their Time, Talent & Treasure Form and Pledge card forward for 2017 during worship followed by a potluck celebration. Advent will begin Nov. 27 with communion. On Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., Pilgrim's Advent Dinner will be followed by crafts to decorate the Christmas tree and the singing of holiday songs.

The Christmas Caf will be presented by the Act-It UP! Community Theatre on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m., and Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase online or by calling the office.

First United Methodist Church

Worship services at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, are on Sundays at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The church has have many Sunday School classes for all ages which meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. There is child care available for infants through preschoolers all morning and there is a Children's Worship service for those in Kindergarten through fifth grade during the 11 a.m. service.

Rejoicing Spirits is a worship service at First Church that is geared toward those with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers. Worship is a "shush-free" experience and includes lots of music and a short message. All are welcome to attend the next service on Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Register now to join Going Strong, a group of active retirees, for their annual Christmas Luncheon. This year, it will take place at the O'Neil House on Dec. 5. The church bus will leave at 11 a.m. Contact Flora Howell at 330-733-8435 for more information and to make a reservation.

Worship service begins at 10:30. Pastor Steve Welker leads the service. His sermon topic for Nov. 13 is "Living on the Island of Utopia". Scripture passage is Isaiah 65:17-25.

Interested in music? Rehearsals for Memory Bell Choir and Chancel Choir and will be on Thursdays with 6 to 7 p.m. for Bells and 7:30 to 9 p.m. for Chancel. 7th Day is comprised of high schoolers. Young Shepherds is a choir of children in grades 1 through 8, and the Son Singers are the preschoolers.

A group of musicians practice weekly on Wednesday evening in the Social Hall. They are the Bethany Band and share their selections and bring joy to various locations such as nursing homes and libraries.

Youth Fellowship will participate in Rake and Run on Nov. 20 as they rake leaves from members' lawns.

Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Nov. 14 to work on providing physical, mental, and spiritual warmth for those in need.

Bethany Kitchen will provide a free meal to the community Nov. 19.

On Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Eve, there will be a worship service at 7:30 featuring communion and the Chancel choir.

Bethany collects Entenmann's Little Bits pouches for recycling through terracyle. Money that is raised will help offset the cost of maintaining the handbells.

BroadmanBaptist Church

Worship services for Broadman are on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 11 a.m.

Members of Broadman Baptist Church are gearing up for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. The Thanksgiving meal will take place Nov. 16 for members and guests. Thanksgiving food baskets will be delivered to needy families on Nov. 21.

The church is a multi-generational congregation with a very active senior group. They meet every first Friday for a breakfast fellowship, bowl twice a month, sing once a month during the worship service and participate in Sunday School every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. A golf league and Bible studies are also included.

First Christian Church

First Christian Church, corner of Second and Stow, invites all to explore faith in Sunday School, small groups, or worship. Child care is available. Sundays at 9:30 a.m. are the Sunday School programs for all ages. Sunday at 10:45 explore Scripture's application to everyday life, or get a "Second Wind" at the alternative worship service on Wednesday nights at 6:30. This informal and interactive service looks at current events through the lens of faith.

On Nov. 13, FCC is honoring Veterans Day with a time of recognition for the members of the military who are serving, who have served, and who have passed on.

Today the youth will be going to Donato's on State Road for a time of fun and fellowship.

FCC's Advent theme will be the Chronicles of Christmas. With its enchanting themes of light and darkness, temptation and sin, forgiveness and hope, and even an appearance by Father Christmas, C.S. Lewis' the Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe enhances the Advent Season. The first Sunday will be "A Hopeful Light" on Nov. 20. Everyone is invited to experience the spirit of Advent at FCC and see the Narnia-style wardrobe in the sanctuary.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, worships at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday with the Rev. Stephanie Crossland.

Rev. Crossland will speak on "The Time is At Hand" on Nov. 13. On Nov. 20, on Christ the King Sunday, the message will be "In the Shadow of God's Wings," with The Sacrament of Holy Communion being observed. Also, Thank Offering will be taken.

Children's Sunday School classes meet during the worship service following A Moment with God's Children. In November, the theme of their study is "God Provides," and will include lessons on The Ten Commandments and The Peaceable Kingdom. The Junior Shining Stars class is for children in kindergarten through second grade, and The Senior Shining Stars class is for those in third grade through sixth grade. All children are welcome to join the classes at any time. A nursery room is staffed and open for those children under the age of 5.

All crafters are welcome at the November meetings of the Craft Guild. The groups meet on third Wednesday and Saturday of every month, except December, when the group takes a break from crafting and enjoy a Christmas luncheon. Reservations are now being taken for the luncheon on Dec. 3. November's meetings will be Nov. 16 and 19, both at 10 a.m.

Bring a current project and lunch, and stay for fun, conversation and lots of busy hands at work.

The Book Club will meet on Nov. 21, at 1:15 p.m. to discuss their current book, "Marriage of Opposites" by Alice Hoffman, which tells the story of a woman and her family living in a Jewish refugee community on St. Thomas in the 1800s. It is also a forbidden love story of the extraordinary woman who gave birth to a famous Impressionist painter, Camille Pissarro. Join the group to discuss the magical realism of this story.

An adult Bible study takes place every Tuesday at 10 a.m. led by the Rev. Crossland. All are welcome.

The church supports Good Neighbors of Cuyahoga Falls by filling its grocery cart on the second Sunday of each month with non-perishable items.

The church is handicapped accessible and large print bulletins and hymnals are available.
