Record Publishing Co. has named Scott Shriner the new executive editor of its weekly newspaper organization.

Shriner will oversee the editorial department and direct coverage for the company's seven weekly newspapers, which include the Aurora Advocate, the Cuyahoga Falls News-Press, the Hudson Hub-Times, the Nordonia Hills News Leader, the Stow Sentry, the Tallmadge Express and the Twinsburg Bulletin.

A 1998 journalism graduate of Bowling Green State University, Shriner has been with Record Publishing Co. for nearly 18 years.

From 2001 to 2016 he served as associate editor of the weekly newspapers; prior to that he was editor of the Twinsburg Bulletin, as well as a reporter for both the Bulletin and the News Leader. He lives in Akron with his wife Emily.

"I'm very pleased to be starting this new gig," Shriner said.

"Our weekly papers represent more than a job to me. They're a very special opportunity to take the feelings and the dynamics of the communities that we cover, and to put them into words and photographs for our readers. I've got a great staff of editors, reporters and photographers. They love the job of continually getting to know these terrific cities, townships and villages, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them all myself even more than I do now."

You can reach Scott Shriner by telephone at 330-541-9425 or via email at sshriner@recordpub.com.
